In a Pet Safe Deluxe Remote Trainer, will the receiver battery die if you don't turn it off?
I just bought one and tried it out yesterday. It seemed to work great in that my dog was reacting to the 4th setting (out of 10). Today he doesn't seem bothered by it at all. It doesn't say to turn off the receiver but I was wondering if the battery could be going. The tone and light still work. The only other thing I can think of is he's adjusted to it. But today he won't, flinch even up to the highest setting. That just seems really odd to me.
If anyone has any experience in these things your insight is very much appreciated.

I'm more worried that you're using a shock collar in the first place than about whether it's still working. What kinds of training issues are you trying to manage with it? I'm a firm believer that positive training will work better with most dogs. Dogs want to please! Praise should be lavish and correction should be gentle. I'm sure you're trying to do the right thing, but consider that you're causing your dog pain every time you use the collar. Try regular obedience training, a lot of practice, and some yummy treats when he gets it right!
