kidney bean size white growth on a biology class goldfish's tail! any ideas what it is?
ok. so in my biology classroom we hav a tank with goldfish in and one of the large goldfish has a large white growth growing through its tail. My teacher has no idea what it is so i was wondering if u guys have come across something similar? Thanks.
Hi James-try searching 'Lymphocystis', 'Papillomatous Lesions' & 'Carp Pox'. Not certain but it does sound very similar to one of these. it is not bacterial or parasitic, rather genetic so no problem with cross-infecting other individuals & is not life threatening. Think of it as wart, I have successfully removed one of these from one of my Comets-feel free to email me if you require further info.
