Cuff Weight

What are some good rotator cuff exercises for martial artists ?

Should I be using heavy weight dumbbells for rotator cuff conditioning ?
xswimcoach- are you saying that we should not do overhead exercises like bench press and overhead press at all ?
Cody: Thanks for the exercise. I tried it with 5 lbs in that position, very effective but it felt like i was lifting 40 lbs. Probably because of the lying on the floor position.

i recently tore both of my rotator cuffs in a boxing match hahah, it was awesome actually, they say im in the gray area, right between a loose jointed or tight jointed person, so they used to pop out alot and hurt alot too, it really inhibits your striking so i feel for you dude. i went to physical therapy and i did full shoulder reconstruction is what they called it, twice a week and i was sore for the next month and a half lol it was intense.

one thing you can do at home is take a ten pound dumbbell lie flat on the ground, roll on your left side, keep your right elbow tight to your side, put your arm in an L position, take the dumbell with your right hand off the ground, and go up and down vertically with it, do 3 sets of 30 reps, its is intense. do both arms. but you will require more adequate and complete workouts for your shoulders if you want to compete.

i reccomend stop in and see a physical therapist, talk to him, either go in and get total shoulder workouts till your better or get some tips or other workouts.

its a problem that has plagued me since football, in a month and a half it was gone, physical therapy is the way to go man. good luck
