How do I know that a higher offer is on the table after I have submitted an offer on a home?
I submitted an offer of asking price on a short sale home and at that time I was told mine was the only offer. I waited 2wks and called the agent back to get the status of my offer and was told that a higher off just came in so I match the higher offer.
You pretty much have to believe your agent. If this agent is also working for the seller, he may not have your best interests in mind. With Short sales everyone is at the mercy of the bank. Banks drag their feet because they don't want to have a bad debt show up on their books, nor do they want a foreclosure showing up... so they just hang on sometimes.... meanwhile the buyers are going nuts trying to figure out what is going on.
