Speed Distance
If two objects were drifting towards a black hole at the same speed and distance from the black hole, if they?
If two objects were drifting towards a black hole at the same speed and distance from the black hole, if they had different masses would the heavier one get "pulled" in first?
No. Their mass would not be a factor. And neither object would get pulled in.
Instead,
both objects would be reduced to individual molecules. Because extended objects (eg a grain of sand or a person) feel a greater gravitational attraction on the side nearer the black hole than the far side.
So gravity reduces every object to its constituent molecules.
Every molecule is then reduced to its constituent atoms. Example Water becomes 1 oxygen atom and 2 hydrogen atoms. This happens because gravity from the black hole attracts the near side of a molecule more strongly than the far side and is able to break EVERY chemical bond.
So then all that is left of in-falling matter is individual atoms.
But gravity reduces all these to single protons and neutrons. Gravity attracts the protons and neutrons that are nearer to the black hole more strongly than those on the far side. So eventually every atom is disrupted into its constituent parts (eg carbon 12 reduces to 6 protons and 6 neutrons)
And it is probably a stream of these particles that finally crosses the event horizon of the black hole. Nothing larger could EVER cross an event horizon.
