Seated Calf
If I work my "thick calves", will the fat go away or will the muscle form in that fat?
I've started to work out in my schools weight room everyday since it's apart of my phys. ed program. I'm interested in using the calf raise, and the seated calf raise. The thing is, I'm not really sure if the "machines" will help me loose the fat, or give me muscle, which I'm also not sure if it will add to the thickness of my calves. Detailed answers will be greatly appreciated! Oh and if you know any other ways I could loose the fat in my calves please provide 
When you are looking to lose fat on any part of your body you have to understand that your can not spot reduce certain areas. Just because you want to lose fat around your calves does not mean you will be able to do it by just focusing on that area. When you lose weight, the fat comes off your entire body and not just a certain part. The best way to burn the fat is by doing moderate exercises for 45-60 min a day which will boost your metabolism thus allowing more calories to be burned. Also by doing cardio at a moderate pace (75% of you max heart rate) you will be triggering adrenaline and noradrenaline which promote burning fat for fuel.
In terms of adding muscle to your calves, doing raises will tone and add fibers onto your calves possibly making them slighly bigger. Your calf muscles are one of the smaller parts of your body so its hard to adjust them to greatly. There size is dependent more on what you are training them for. If you want big bulky calves then do low reps to promote the most fast twitch muscle fibers. If you want thin calves then focus on cardio and endurance work outs which stimulate slow twitch muscles.
