What kind of dress should I do my doll?
BTW, I am a young collector, not a small child so I'm good at both design and sewing. Just not very good at coming up with ideas. The doll is beautiful. It is vinyl, 18 "tall and has long black hair and skin color dark tan. She has huge dark brown eyes. The fabric I want to use is a mixture of blue, green, purple with bright pink flowers on it. This is a large print, and I want to use an amount large enough on the doll so that the design shows it. It almost looks like Hawaii and the doll does too. But I think a muumuu would look too much like a nightgown on her. So that was just released. A caftan is a possibility with a solid color yoke and long bell sleeves. But again ... nightgown. I hate girly dresses that are just skirt bodice, collar and belt sewn. Should I give him a halter? It would not really be quite broad and too simple to sew. What do you think? What would you do for an American Girl (for example)?
There is a formal Hawaiian dress style that looks like a prom dress well equipped with a train. I have attached a link to a clip from a movie shows that women in this dress, starting from 1:06 in the clip. I have a couple of dolls with this type of dress and it seems both maternal and elegant.
