Using weights to increase resistance for ab workouts?

This definetly makes the workout harder, but say for leg raises, does putting a weight between my legs make the workout more effective for me, as I find leg raises without weights very easy. Would this still be efficient in strengthening the abdominal wall or would it put more emphasis on other areas such as the thighs? Whilst trying to target the lower abdominal muscles in such context.

your abs are a muscle, if you use weights on them and increase resistance this will make the muscle bigger
which means increased depth which in turn with give you a bigger waist
with a larger diameter
i have always found NOT using weights will tone the muscles, and keep you waist size to a minimum
up to you though
when i was body building i maintained a 28" waist and 49" chest throughout my time training
most of my training partners over the years used weights and all had thicker waists
