Do you have to buy the special oil to lube your treadmill belt?
I think I would.
If you know exactly what the belt is made of, the composition of the oil you want to use and understand the interaction it should be OK. What happens is most petroleum based lubricants have the effect of breaking rubber down. If you don't know what will happen you will be better off following the manufacturers instructions.
